There is never enough time to do everything, but there are always ways for us to increase our productivity, for example, through effective time management. Whether you simply want to spend more time on the things that matter to you, or if you need to meet a deadline, time management is an essential element to achieving your goals.

Time Management Tips to Increase Your Productivity

A considerable amount of time is spent managing and organising documents. Sorting through unwanted mail, or endeavouring to collate documentation for a larger project, all takes up valuable time. At ‘Ordered’ we understand how important it is to all of us to manage our time productively.

Here are some of our top tips as to how you could manage your time more efficiently, providing you with the time and space to attend to more important matters:

  • Review tasks at the beginning of the day and identify your priorities

Do not let yourself become overwhelmed by the number of things which you need to achieve. Look at what you need to do and then decide what should be prioritised. What would you like to achieve today, what do you need to achieve today, and what can you delay until a later date? This will help increase your productivity.

  • Review tasks and priorities at the end of the day

What has changed, and what do you now need to focus on?

  • Keep, and maintain, lists of tasks

Whether you do this on paper or on your computer, make sure that you have a task list or system which works for you. Take pleasure in ticking off completed tasks as they are accomplished, and seeing what you have achieved each day.

  • Avoid distractions

If you need to focus on a task, eliminate all unnecessary distractions. Consider if it’s best to switch the telephone off, or if checking on your emails should left until after you’ve completed a task.

If working as part of a team, ensure that all team members review and prioritise tasks on a regular basis

If a member, or members, of the team are not managing to complete their tasks, consider why this has occurred and endeavour to resolve the problem as quickly as possible.
